A new women's fashion boutique opening downtown aims to provide shoppers with the latest trends at affordable prices.

Katie Twedt is opening Bella Boutique at 609 St. Joseph St. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, with a grand opening event starting that day and going through Saturday, Oct. 4.

The shop is part of a small chain with other locations in Sioux Falls, North Dakota and Minnesota. Twedt said other downtown merchants have welcomed her and that the addition of several fashion boutiques in the past year will give the area a bright future for destination shopping.

The idea behind Bella is that each month, the owners bring in new fashions fresh off the runway, so you'll always find something new - tops, handbags, jewelry, scarves, sunglasses and more.

Customers also can plan private shopping parties with their friends, including snacks and beverages.

Twedt said the store is a way for her to combine her love for fashion and fitness. She'll carry her favorite line of Pilates clothes, too, called We Pilates.

"I'm all about taking care of yourself, feeling good and wearing fashions that complement you," she said.
